Peace calms the soul. Peace assures us that no matter the situation our emotions are tamed and everything will be alright. Those days when chaos, confusion and turmoil have entered our space, we have a choice to either stay where we are or call on the comforter inside us. Before Jesus was crucified, He gave the disciples a gift that would be with them forever. A gift that would comfort them when they needed Him the most. Jesus gave the disciples the gift of peace (the Holy Spirit) for guidance and comfort. Who do you call when you need comfort and guidance? Friends and family are wonderful to have but in the midst of crucible chaos we are to call on the Holy Spirit to calm our souls.
Some gifts are opened and only used for certain occasions but peace is a gift that should be used constantly, especially when anger is brewing and our hearts are in turmoil. Stop allowing people, and circumstances to disrupt your mood. When life gets rough tap into your gift and allow the spirit of God to minister to the response center of your mind so you can speak words of love instead of words filled with hurt and anger.
Prayer: Lord, when my life is chaotic and out of control, help me to call on the gift inside me. When I feel the need to respond in anger, minister to my soul and tame my tongue to only speak words filled with life and love. Amen
Scripture: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27
